"Infinity Pool" made quite a splash when it premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in January. The movie has garnered a lot of buzz surrounding its shocking and disturbing content, and now brave viewers can watch the sci-fi horror flick at home. 

The surreal thriller follows a couple, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman), as they enjoy a vacation on an island resort. But when they meet a mysterious woman named Gabi (Mia Goth), James and Em suddenly find themselves thrust into a world of depravity. After a terrible accident, their situation goes down an even stranger path.

"Infinity Pool" is written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg, whose previous credits include the horror movies "Possessor" (2020) and "Antiviral" (2012). Fans of the genre might also be familiar with Brandon Cronenberg's father, David Cronenberg, the director of sci-fi horror classics like "Videodrome," "Scanners," and "The Fly."

How to watch 'Infinity Pool'

You can watch "Infinity Pool" at home through digital retailers like Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV. The movie costs $15 to buy or $10 to rent.

Vudu and Apple TV both offer the movie in up to 4K quality, while Amazon's listing is currently limited to HD. Once you purchase a digital copy of "Infinity Pool," you can stream it whenever you like with no restrictions. If you rent the film, you get 30 days to start watching it, and then 48 hours to finish it after you hit play.

Apps for digital retailers are available on most smart TVs, mobile devices, and streaming players from major brands like Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV. You should check each retailer's website to ensure you device is supported before making a purchase. 

What is 'Infinity Pool' rated R for?

Per the MPAA, "Infinity Pool" is rated R for "graphic violence, disturbing material, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and some language."

The movie premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival with an NC-17 rating, but the film has been edited for its theatrical and streaming release to receive an R.

Is 'Infinity Pool' worth watching?

As of February 28, "Infinity Pool" has an "87% Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 172 reviews. Critics praise the film's dark satire, surreal horror, and impressive performances, but some reviewers feel the movie fails to deliver a compelling message.   

The film is known for its disturbing content, so the movie is not for the faint of heart. Based on the movie's critical acclaim, however, "Infinity Pool" looks like it's well worth a watch for fans of graphic horror stories with elements of satire.
