  • The church holds $44 billion in stocks and is currently being investigated by the SEC for disclosure rules.
  • These are the top 10 holdings of the Mormon Church's investment portfolio as of December 31.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' sports a $100 billion investment portfolio that includes $44.4 billion invested in stocks.

The portfolio is registered with the SEC under the name Ensign Peak Advisors, and the Wall Street Journal reported last week that it's being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for potential violations of disclosure rules.

The Mormon Church's investment portfolio wasn't revealed to the public until 2019, when a former employee of the fund filed a whistleblower complaint, alleging that the fund shouldn't have tax-exempt status because it doesn't engage in any charitable activities.

Those claims were denied by church officials, and the church has said it is currently complying with the SEC's investigation into its disclosure practices.

In a 13F filing made with the SEC this week, Ensign Peak Advisors revealed its top stock holdings as of December 31. These are the top 10 stocks as of the fourth quarter and how they changed from the prior quarter.
