  • Rep. George Santos' federal political committees listed a mysterious new treasurer, CNN reported.
  • Long Island GOP officials don't know him and he's not linked to other NY political bodies.
  • Curiously, the treasurer's address is listed as the apartment where Santos' sister used to live.

Rep. George Santos' mysterious new treasurer is unknown to local politicians but is curiously listed as living at the apartment where Santos' sister lived until earlier this year.

Andrew Olson was listed as the treasurer for Santos' federal political committees on February 21, shortly after the Federal Election Commission warned the congressman that he could not raise or spend money without one.

But Olson raised questions: his listing gave no phone number and he had never seemingly served in such a role before.

The position was under scrutiny already because its last named holder — Thomas Datwyler — said he didn't work for Santos at all and was listed without giving his permission.

A new report by CNN offered new details into the mystery surrounding Olson's appointment, noting that he does not serve as treasurer for any federal committees beyond those linked to Santos.

Election officials in New York told CNN that nobody with that name is listed as a treasurer of any political committee in the state. And Nassau County Republican Party officials also do not appear to know anything about Olson.

"Do not know him. Have not heard of him," Nassau County Republican Party spokesman Mike Deery told CNN, adding that Nassau County's GOP chair Joseph Cairo was also "not acquainted" with him.

Insider contacted an email address said to belong to Olson but did not immediately receive a response. This publication could also not find any social media accounts or any other public records linked to the email address.

Curiously, one of the few details about Olson provided in the FEC filing is an address in Queens.

The address is that of a mixed-use building containing an apartment where Tiffany Lee Devolder Santos, the embattled congressman's sister, lived until earlier this year. Dailymail.com reported that she vacated the premises in January after almost being evicted while owing rent.

The address has also previously been listed by Santos himself as his address on campaign documents.

Employees at three businesses in the building told CNN that Andrew Olson was not a name they recognized.

Insider sent a message to Santos but did not immediately receive a response. He has mostly not answered questions from Insider or other outlets about apparent discrepancies in his political career and life story.

CNN's Manu Raju approached Santos on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to ask about Olson, but Santos did not answer any questions.

Santos' puzzling financial disclosures have been the subject of media scrutiny, including listing donations attributed to names or addresses that don't exist, his campaign spending more than $26,000 at an Italian restaurant in Queens, and campaign-finance violation concerns.

The freshman congressman has also been caught out in lies about his education, employment history, and heritage, among other fabrications.
