Crystal Cruises has announced a 141-night world cruise a year after its dramatic shutdown — see what it'll be like

Crystal Cruises made a big splash last year with serious financial issues, the arrest of two of its vessels over unpaid fuel bills, and the shutdown of US operations.

But that was the Crystal Cruises of the past, then owned by Genting Hong Kong.

Now, a revived Crystal has emerged under its new parent company, Abercrombie and Kent (A&K) Travel Group.

In 2022, A&K Group acquired the brand and its two ships, the Crystal Serenity and the Crystal Symphony.

A&K is also known for its luxury "small group" tours, which include world trips by private jet.

And a little over a year after Crystal's choppy waters, the renewed cruise line is ready to sail again with 2023 and 2024 itineraries, including a recently announced 2024 world cruise.

Over 125 nights, the Crystal Serenity and its passengers would sail to 62 locations across 29 countries, the cruise line says.

For passengers who want an even longer sailing, there's also the option to tack on an additional leg through the Panama Canal …

… extending the cruise by 16 days and the number of destinations to up to 70 across 35 countries.

Throughout these months at sea, Crystal says the Serenity would sail to destinations like Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, and the French Riviera.

Travelers have three itinerary options: sailing from San Diego, California to Miami for 125 nights or roundtrip from either Miami or San Diego for 141 nights.

The roundtrip Miami itinerary will stop in 70 destinations across 35 countries, the most destinations of the three options …

… while the shorter California to Florida leg will hit 62 locations in 29 countries.

Prices for the latter itinerary start at $61,600 per person for a 215-square-foot ocean-view stateroom.

This then shoots up to $245,600 per person for the 1,265-square-foot — not including the balcony — penthouse suite on both roundtrip itineraries.

But even the least expensive stateroom still has luxury amenities. Think of complimentary wine, fruits, and a pillow menu.

The 740-guest Crystal Serenity is currently being refurbished in Italy.

When it's complete in July, the refreshed ship will have an upgraded spa and gym, larger suites with new finishes …

… and of course, the hottest new amenity aboard cruise ships: a pickleball court.

The 820-foot-long floating luxury hotel also has a restaurant by the famed Nobuyki Matusuhisa of Nobu, several bars and lounges with views of the water, and what the cruise line calls "Broadway-style" shows.

Unveiling a world cruise shortly after resuming operations may be a big undertaking. But there's no better time to unveil a months-long cruise.

Extended and around-the-world cruises have been seeing "record-breaking" booking success over the last few years.

For those who can tolerate months at sea, these extended sailings allow travelers to visit dozens of destinations without complicated logistical planning or having to constantly unpack and repack.
