Average 30-year mortgage rates were pretty volatile in April, at times going as low as 6% before spiking as high as 6.7%. They ended the month near the middle of the two extremes. Rates haven't moved much today, but they could start dropping soon, depending on the outcome of the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting.
