Samsung Galaxy Tab S9: Price and release date
The Galaxy Tab S9 will begin hitting doorsteps on August 11. For a limited time, Samsung offers free storage upgrades on all Galaxy Tab S9 purchases. That means you'll go from 128GB to 256GB if you buy the baseline model (price starts at $799.99) or 256GB to 512GB for the Tab S9 Plus and S9 Ultra (starting at $999.99 and $1,149.99, respectively).
While you're moving through checkout, you'll also find plenty of trade-in and bundle offers. We'll break it all down for you below.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 preorder deals
One of the most significant benefits of preordering a Galaxy Tab S9 is the free storage upgrade, regardless of which version you buy. That means you'll get the 256GB Tab S9 for the cost of the 128GB or 512GB on the Tab S9 Plus and S9 Ultra for the price of the 256GB models. If you're interested in the 1TB Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, you can get $150 off instantly at checkout.
Samsung also incentivizes you to preorder with bundle deals that save you 50% on the Book Cover Keyboard Slim when buying it with any Galaxy Tab S9. That brings its cost down to $100. Need new earbuds? You can save the same 50% on a pair of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, bringing the total on those down to $115. Don't forget Samsung Care+, which you'll want in case of accidental drops and spills. You can save 30% on monthly or two-year subscriptions.
And if you happen to be stuffing your cart with one of Samsung's other newly announced devices today—the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Watch 6 series—you'll be able to save up to $300 each on those devices. We've listed the latest preorder incentives in their respective guides below.

For even more savings, you can trade in eligible tablets for up to $650 toward your purchase. You'll get the maximum value from trading in a 5th-generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch (M1) in good condition. The two generations prior would take about $500 off your purchase. You can also get $500 to $650 off when trading in any of the Galaxy Tab S8 variants. The Tab S7 and Tab S6 series will get you $350 and $250, respectively.
If you can't get close to the best value, you may consider selling your devices on third-party marketplaces like eBay instead. It can be a bit of a hassle, but it's a good route to take if you have cellular and high-storage models, which often sell for much more.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9: What's new?
All three Galaxy Tab S9 variants look similar to the previous generation with an aluminum build but use Samsung's newest Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with HDR10+ support and up to 120Hz refresh rate. This is a departure from the former tactic of reserving the most premium display tech for those willing to pay the most for it.
Samsung sticks to its preferred 16:10 aspect ratios to match the most common cinematic content format. It also doubles down on its effectiveness as an entertainment portal with 20% larger Dolby Atmos quad speakers tuned by AKG.
Each Tab S9 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, tuned specifically for Galaxy devices. New to the lineup is IP68 water and dust resistance (true across the range), and every device ships with an equally repellent S-Pen that offers bidirectional charging (so you can ensure it's topping up no matter which way you stow it in the tablet's rear holding bay).
More than fun, Samsung also seeks to resolidify the Tab S9 series as a productivity powerhouse, doing so with newly optimized pro-level apps like GoodNotes, LumaFusion, and Clip Studio Paint. You may be familiar with how much heat these apps (and other resource-intensive activities like gaming) can produce, so you might like hearing Samsung boast of a new two-way heat dissipation system that uses an internal vapor chamber.
As for software, expect an upgraded OneUI based on Android 13. As usual, DeX allows you to connect the tablet to external displays for a more traditional multi-window computing experience. You can add the Book Cover Keyboard for laptop-like functionality if you're a one-screen person.
