If you're a DoorDash fanatic, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only is a great no-annual-fee credit card that will fit your lifestyle with a high return rate and a few benefits that can save you potentially hundreds. However, if you're indiscriminate with your food delivery platform, other cards offer a higher return with services like Uber Eats.

Review: Is the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard the Best Credit Card for You?

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only is among the best credit cards for ordering food delivery.

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Annual Fee-annual-fee DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only comes with DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Intro Bonus. The DashPass membership that comes with the intro offer is valid for the primary cardholder and one authorized user. Because membership otherwise costs $96 annually, this is a potential $192 value.

This card has a few DoorDash-specific perks that DoorDashians will love, namely:

  • 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
  • Free year of DoorDash each anniversary year you spend $10,000 on the card
  • $25 off the first two Nationwide Shipping orders of $100 or more
  • 10% off the first order of $35 or more each month (up to $15 per order) on convenience, grocery, alcohol, and DashMart purchases

These benefits are surprising for a no-annual-fee credit card.

However, two of the benefits will be gone by 2024 — the Nationwide Shipping statement credits and the monthly 10% discount. That leaves the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only with just two real DoorDash benefits: 4% back on purchases through DoorDash and Caviar, and free DashPass membership after spending $10,000 in an anniversary year.

If DoorDash is your go-to (and you're not willing to have your order delivered by another site like Uber Eats), the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only is the obvious choice. Some restaurants are excluded from various apps, after all.

If you don't have unyielding loyalty to DoorDash, you can get a better return for using other cards, such as the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card - Annual Fee-annual-fee Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card - Product Name Only. This card offers an incredible 10% cash back with Uber and Uber Eats through November 14, 2024. It also bests the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only in other spending categories, earning 3% back on dining and grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart® and Target®). Plus, through November 14, 2024, cardholders can activate a free Uber One membership, which otherwise costs $9.99 per month and comes with benefits like unlimited $0 delivery fees on eligible orders, up to 10% off eligible orders with Uber Eats, and more.

Let's take a look at the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only to see if it's good enough to funnel your daily spending through.

We're focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won't be worth it if you're paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it's important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

How to Earn Rewards With the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only delivers one of the higher returns among no annual fee credit cards. Here's what you'll get:

  • 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
  • 3% cash back on dining purchased directly from a restaurant (online or in-store)
  • 2% cash back on grocery stores (online or in-store)
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

If you're in the market for a DoorDash-branded credit card, you probably spend heavily within the app. The 4% return on this card is a huge win for you. And most other common monthly purchases, such as dining and groceries, also earn bonus cash back.

How to Use Rewards

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only earns cash back, the pinnacle of versatility. You can redeem for simple statement credits, direct deposits into your bank account, or for gift cards from various merchants.

Alternately, you can redeem your rewards in-app to offset your frequent DoorDash purchases. There is no minimum redemption amount.

We recommend that you never use your cash back in-app to lower your DoorDash bill for one simple reason: It robs you of earning 4% back with your card. It's a much better idea to spend on the card and then request a statement credit later to effectively offset the purchase.

DoorDash Credit Card Benefits and Features

Free DashPass membership

Again, you and one authorized user will each get 12 months of free DashPass as part of this card's bonus. Your default payment method must be the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only for the membership to activate.

You can also continue to receive free DashPass membership for yourself and one authorized user by spending at least $10,000 on purchases each anniversary year. DashPass costs $96 for a yearly subscription — meaning this is a value of potentially $192.

DashPass comes with $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on all eligible orders that meet the subtotal minimum as shown in the app and 5% back in DoorDash credits on eligible pickup orders.

$25 off the first two Nationwide Shipping orders

DoorDash has a service you might not know about.

You can get food from more than just restaurants within reasonable proximity of your house; you can order it from across the country (the only exceptions are Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico). For example, if you want a few filets from the Chicago Steak Company, but you live in Phoenix, you can still order a shipment and receive them in a few days.

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only gives you $25 off your first two Nationwide Shipping orders of at least $100 via DoorDash or Caviar. You must pay with the card and select the promo code from your wallet at checkout to get the discount.

This benefit expires on December 31, 2023.

Monthly 10% discount

Through August 31, 2023, you'll get 10% off your first order within the US totaling at least $35 on convenience, grocery, alcohol, or DashMart purchases through DoorDash (not Caviar). You can only receive a maximum of $15 in discounts per month. Again, you must pay with the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only to activate the discount.

Because of the nature of this promotion, you'll get more value the sooner you open the card.

No foreign transaction fees

Some cards charge a fee (often 3%) for any spending you make outside the US. Even if you make your purchase online from your couch, you could still be charged this fee if the merchant is international.

Fortunately, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only does not charge foreign transaction fees. This makes it an excellent card to bring on trips abroad.

Secondary rental car insurance

When you decline the rental car agency's CDW and pay for your rental with the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only, you'll automatically receive secondary rental car insurance. This means that you'll be insured for anything that's not covered by your primary insurance provider (most likely your personal insurance policy).

Trip cancellation/interruption insurance

If you've prepaid for nonrefundable travel that you cannot complete for a covered reason (either before it begins or during your trip), you are eligible to be reimbursed for up to $1,500 per person and $6,000 per trip if you used your card to pay. This includes canceled flights due to weather, injuries, certain sicknesses, etc. You can also receive compensation if you need to take an emergency flight home.

Extended warranty

You'll also get extended warranty protection when you pay for eligible items with your card, allowing you to receive an additional year of coverage on eligible US manufacturers' warranties of three years or less.

Purchase protection

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only's purchase protection covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft, up to $500 per claim. There is a maximum coverage of $50,000 per account.

World Elite Mastercard benefits

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only is a World Elite Mastercard, meaning it comes with benefits such as:

  • Complimentary 24/7 concierge service
  • A $5 Lyft credit after taking three rides in one calendar month and paying with this card
  • Access to Mastercard Priceless® Experiences
  • Exclusive offers on ride-sharing, food delivery, online shopping, and more
  • Protection from identity theft and fraudulent charges

One exceptionally relevant World Elite Mastercard benefit is a monthly $5 credit off your first DoorDash order each month as an eligible DashPass member. You can stack this with discounts, statement credits, and cash back you'll get from the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only.

Fees and Costs

This card charges a DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Annual Fee annual fee, and it also does not charge foreign transaction fees. However, you'll still be charged for things like balance transfers, cash advances, late payments, etc.

DoorDash Rewards Mastercard Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard have an annual fee?

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only does not charge an annual fee.

Is the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard worth it?

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only comes with a DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Annual Fee annual fee, making it extremely low-risk for anyone curious about the card but hesitant to give it a try. The card also waives foreign transaction fees, making it a good card to bring when traveling abroad.

If you decide you don't like it, you can simply stop using it (or cancel it). As long as you don't do things like make late payments, carry a balance month-to-month, or initiate a cash advance with your card, the card is free.

Is the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard the best credit card for food delivery?

The best credit card for food delivery depends on the type of rewards you want to earn. Other cards offer a similar (or even higher) return rate for food delivery platforms.

However, no other credit card on the market allows you to achieve free membership in perpetuity that gives you things like free delivery and discounted service charges. The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® - Product Name Only gives you and one authorized user complimentary DashPass membership each account anniversary year you spend $10,000. You'll have to decide if that spending requirement is worthwhile.

What DoorDash-specific benefits come with the DoorDash credit card?

  • One free year of DashPass upon account opening
  • 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
  • A free year of DoorDash each anniversary year you make $10,000 in purchases with the card
  • $25 off the first two Nationwide Shipping orders of $100 or more (ends 8/31/23)
