Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan have been married since 2012 after meeting in college.

The couple has three daughters, Maxima, 7; August, 5; and baby Aurelia, born in March 2023. There's also a recurring theme that ties those three names together: All three kids' names are linked to those of Roman emperors — a time period that fascinates Zuckerberg

The name Maxima is similar to the Latin name Maximus, while August is shortened from Augustus Caesar, the Roman emperor. Newborn Aurelia's name ties back to Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius.

In some cases, parenting and philanthropy also go hand-in-hand for the couple. On the day the couple announced Maxima's birth, they also unveiled their philanthropic fund, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Zuckerberg's Meta fortune backs the fund and aims to cure all of the world's diseases during their daughter's lifetime.

While Zuckerberg may be a tech industry giant, like most parents, he also prefers to limit his kids' screen time, spare for video calls with family members.

Another unique aspect of having Meta's CEO as your dad: Zuckerberg teaches his two young daughters coding before bed.

While Zuckerberg is in charge of bedtime, Chan said they like to split their parental duties, leaving her in charge of getting their kids ready for school in the morning.

"Sometimes they will read books together. Sometimes they'll code together," Chan said of Zuckerberg's bedtime routine with the kids. "Mark has been doing that with August since she turned 3."

Zuckerberg and Chan have also found a balance between teaching their kids part of Zuckerberg's Jewish religion and Chan's Chinese heritage.

At the end of the night, Zuckerberg does a bedtime prayer in Mandarin Chinese with his children, Chan told The Times. Zuckerberg reportedly taught himself Chinese, and in 2014, conducted a 30-minute Q&A entirely in the language.
