- Delta is adding daily nonstop flights from its Atlanta hub to western cities like Santa Barbara.
- Flights from LA and Atlanta to Aspen will be offered year-round in 2024.
- The new routes are part of the airline's expanded domestic service launching next summer.
One way to fight off the end-of-summer blues is by planning your trips for next year. If you have your eyes set on heading west — Delta has some good news for you.
Next summer, the airline is rolling out new, returning, and expanded routes to western cities like Santa Barbara and Seattle, it announced Friday. The carrier will also be resuming a handful of recently suspended routes, including nonstop daily service between Detroit and Anchorage.
You can book the new routes starting Saturday, September 16, the company said in a press release.
Delta needed a win after overhauling its SkyMiles loyalty program and limiting Sky Club access, a move that enraged customers (who expressed their discontent from all corners of the web).
"By reopening service to Santa Barbara and delivering more ways to access sought-after destinations throughout the U.S. West, we're more ready than ever to take our customers on their next great adventures," Joe Esposito, Delta's Senior Vice President of Network Planning, said in a statement.
Here's a closer look at Delta's new and expanded routes for next summer, including the launch dates and frequency of the flights:
Salt Lake City and Atlanta to Santa Barbara
Starting on June 7, 2024, Delta is launching a new route between Santa Barbara and Atlanta with non-stop flights offered once a day.
The carrier is also relaunching twice-daily flights between Salt Lake City and Santa Barbara, a service it suspended in 2020.
Atlanta to Fresno
Also beginning on June 7, 2024, Delta is launching new services between Atlanta and Fresno, California. The city serves as a gateway to Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and the Sierra National Forest. The flights will be offered once a day, the carrier said in a press release.
Dallas-Fort Worth to Seattle
Delta's third and final new route scheduled for launch next summer is between Dallas-Fort Worth and Seattle. The non-stop flights will be offered twice a day beginning on July 8, 2024.
The new route will compete with similar services from Dallas-based carriers American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
Atlanta and Los Angeles to Aspen
Delta flights from Atlanta and Los Angeles to Aspen, Colorado — two routes that were previously only offered during the winter season — will be offered year-round in 2024, the carrier said in a press release.
Non-stop flights from Los Angles to Aspen will be offered once a day year-round. The Atlanta route will operate twice a day during the winter and once a day during the off-season.
Atlanta to Reno
Starting June 7, 2024, Delta is reinstating daily flights from Atlanta to Reno, Nevada. The route, which was previously suspended in 2021, will allow Delta passengers easy access to Lake Tahoe, the company said in a press release.
Detroit to Anchorage
Starting June 7, 2024, Delta is also reinstating nonstop daily service between Detroit and Anchorage — a route that was previously suspended in 2021. Delta also offers routes to four additional Alaska cities: Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka.
"Detroit complements Delta's year-round service to Anchorage from Seattle and Minneapolis St. Paul and summer seasonal service from Atlanta and Salt Lake City," the carrier said in a press release.
