Instagram boss Adam Mosseri has had an illustrious career at Meta but the executive shared his humble beginnings in a post on Threads on Wednesday, which has received over 2,000 likes.

Mosseri, who has served as head of Instagram since October 2018, took part in a trend on the Meta-owned platform where users revealed the five roles that have shaped how they got to where they are now.

Two of Mosseri's earliest roles included a stint in the hospitality sector as a bartender and a waiter, something many young graduates who are just starting out in their career can relate to.

Mosseri, who graduated from New York University with a major in Information Design, hasn't listed these roles in his LinkedIn profile

While at university, he launched a design firm called Blank Mosseri in 2002 and then became an adjunct professor at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

The 40-year-old got his big break in 2008 when he was hired as a product designer at Facebook and then spent the next decade climbing the ranks of the tech giant, eventually becoming head of Instagram in 2018.

He is now running Zuckerberg's latest venture, Threads – the Twitter-like social media platform that launched earlier this year to much fanfare.

Mosseri recently moved back to the US after spending a year in London where he led Instagram from the UK capital. He said the time difference "proved unsustainable," and "the company and the team's site strategy changed drastically since" he moved, in a post on Threads.
