  • Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kari Lake view each other with intense distrust, according to a new report.

  • Both are prominent supporters of former President Trump and said to be potential VP picks.

There's no love lost between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and failed 2022 gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, according to a new report.

The Georgia Republican has told people in private that Lake is a "grifter," according to Rolling Stone, which cited several sources who have spoken with the congresswoman.

Both women are die-hard supporters of former President Donald Trump, have made false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and are seen by some as potential picks to be his vice president.

"MTG thinks she's a scammer and not even a conservative," one source told Rolling Stone, adding that Greene has said that "Lake is a grifter and [is] trying to keep riding Trump's coattails because she lost [in Arizona], so she's cozying up on the election-integrity messaging."

"Kari did come up, and the term 'grifter' was used to describe her more than just once," another source who spoke with Greene told Rolling Stone, adding that Greene "thinks it's complete nonsense that anyone would think it's a good idea for Donald Trump to consider [Kari] for VP."

Lake, according to the outlet, has also suspected Greene of leaking negative stories about her in the media.

Spokespeople for Greene and Lake did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Greene told the New York Times last year that she has discussed the possibility of being vice president with Trump, but that she thinks "the last person that the [Republican National Committee] or the national party wants is me as his running mate."

Axios reported in March that Lake was among four women that Trump was considering to be his vice president.

It wouldn't be the first time that Greene shown animosity towards another women popular on the right — or accused her of inauthenticity.

Earlier this summer, Greene called Rep. Lauren Boebert a "little bitch" on the House floor after the Colorado congresswoman introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden that Greene believed had been mere copies of her own impeachment efforts and an effort to boost Boebert's fundraising efforts.
