Mortgage rates have been holding relatively steady, with average 30-year mortgage rates hovering around 7%. 

Inflation needs to come down further for rates to drop substantially. But recent economic data has shown that although the economy has generally been cooling, it's still relatively strong, especially in the labor market. We'll likely need to see some more slowing before mortgage rates drop enough to bring more homebuyers back on the market.
