Compared to recent months, September has been a relatively calm month for mortgage rates, with average 30-year mortgage rates hovering around 7%. 

Some experts believe that rates may have finally peaked, though we'll need to see how inflation trends in the next couple of months before knowing for sure. If inflation doesn't slow enough, mortgage rates could tick up in anticipation of another hike from the Federal Reserve.
