  • Registrations and site traffic were "record-breaking," Vote.org's CEO told Insider.

Vote.org saw the largest National Voter Registration Day since 2020 on Tuesday — and it's thanks in large part to Taylor Swift.

Swift posted an Instagram story that day urging her 272 million followers to register to vote on Vote.org.

"Are you registered to vote yet?" Swift wrote. "I've been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my US shows recently. I've heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you're ready to use them in our elections this year!"

She then posted a link to Vote.org, noting for her followers that it takes less than two minutes to register.

According to data shared with Insider by Vote.org, 35,252 people registered to vote and 157,041 eligible voters visited the site on Tuesday.

That's a 22.5% jump in total registrations from last year and a 115% increase in 18-year-olds compared to 2022.

"During the day on Tuesday, we saw a 1,226% jump in participation the hour after Taylor Swift posted. Our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes — a number that Taylor Swift would be proud of," Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org, said in a statement shared with Insider, referring to Swift's favorite number (13).

Hailey added that Tuesday was "record-breaking."

Swift has been working with Vote.org for "several years," they said, to urge her fans to get out and vote.

Notably politically silent until 2018, Swift has since spoken out in support of Democratic candidates. She officially endorsed Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election.
