X CEO Linda Yaccarino says she's yet to see Elon Musk in "demon mode."

Yaccarino made the comments in an interview at Vox's Code Conference on Wednesday in response to a question from CNBC's Julia Boorstin, The Verge reported.

She spoke about the value of debate when faced with the question, adding: "All I'm saying is that the idea of the inability to have a debate or feedback, I haven't experienced or I'll say I haven't experienced it yet."

Musk's "demon mode" is described by his biographer Walter Isaacson as a state that is productive but "dark" and lacking in empathy. In a Twitter Spaces interview in June, Isaacson said Musk's former girlfriend Grimes coined the term.

Isaacson said when the billionaire was in "demon mode" he would "go dark" and he'd know Musk was "just going to rip that person apart."

Isaacson said the mood was common when the billionaire first took over X, formerly Twitter, and laid off more than half its staff.

Representatives for X did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider, made outside normal working hours.

Yaccarino's interview at the Code Conference had some rocky moments. The audience at one point when the X CEO said: "Who wouldn't want Elon Musk sitting by their side running product?"

Her interview came hours after an appearance from Yoel Roth, Twitter's former head of trust and safety, who's previously spoken out about content moderation on the site.

Yaccarino said Roth's appearance at the event was "unexpected," adding: "I think many people in this room were not fully prepared for me to still come out on the stage, but here we are."
