Update: We've just launched our live blog for the latest Prime Day deals, so head on over if you want to see the latest offers right through October 12.
Amazon Prime Day is the big sales event set for October 10 and 11. Although it feels like Amazon just had its summer sale, this next iteration, "Prime Big Deal Days," is the perfect time to get a jump on holiday shopping.
But you don't have to wait for the official first day of Prime Big Deal Days to start saving; there are plenty of early sales available right now. These include $250 off the MacBook Air (2020), the iRobot Roomba 692 for the low price of $229.00, and $80 off the Bose 700 noise-cancelling over-ear headphones, among others.
We've rounded up the 40 best early Prime Day deals available now. Make sure to check back on this post often as we'll be updating it ahead of Prime Big Deal Days with more early discounts as we find them.
The best early Prime Day deals
Do you have to subscribe to Amazon Prime to take advantage of Prime Big Deal Days?
Yes, all Prime Day events, including Prime Big Deal Days, require shoppers to be Amazon Prime members in order to take advantage of the sales. In addition to access to the sale, Prime members also get perks such as free two-day shipping and a free year of Grubub+.
It's worth noting that first-time subscribers get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, which would include access to Prime Big Deal Days despite it being a trial. This means you could sign up for the free 30-day trial, take advantage of the two-day sale, and then cancel the subscription before the 30 days ends to avoid being charged.
Are early Prime Day sales actually good deals?
Yes, many of the early Prime Day deals we've included are similar to the discounts we expect to see during the actual event. The main difference is that some of the early deals may potentially sell out before Prime Big Deal Days, or might not even be on sale once the event begins.
However, because of the wide variety of products on sale during Prime Big Deal Days, it's likely you could save a few extra dollars waiting for the main event. There is no guarantee things will be in stock, or if a certain color or sizing option is available, though.
Is it better to wait for Black Friday?
Not necessarily, no, though this does depend on what you might purchase. For instance, Prime Day events like Prime Big Deal Days have historically been one of the best times all year to shop for home goods or tech products like laptops, Amazon Kindle readers, Bluetooth speakers, and more. Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) have their own unique deals, but waiting for one sale over the other isn't entirely necessary.
Are there other stores offering deals during Prime Big Deal Days?
Although Prime Big Deal Days is an Amazon-specific shopping event, other stores, like Best Buy, Target, or even Walmart, often hold competing sales. These other sales are great options for anyone who doesn't have an Amazon Prime membership.
