How to choose the right iPad
The right iPad for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. Between the five iPad models that Apple currently sells, there are four main differentiating factors: screen size, performance, storage, and price.
We recommend that you start by assessing screen size and portability. The featherweight, 8.3-inch iPad Mini offers ultimate portability, while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro boasts the largest screen, though at a hefty 1.5 pounds. For a 10- to 11-inch screen with intermediate weight, you can choose from Apple's standard iPads, the iPad Air, or the 11-inch iPad Pro.
Performance matters depending on the tasks you intend to use the tablet for. The standard iPads and the iPad Mini can handle everyday apps, but for demanding tasks like photo and video editing, especially with rendering, the additional speed provided by the iPad Air and iPad Pro models will be worth your while.
In terms of storage, the iPad Pro is your choice if you require over 256GB, as it's the only model that offers 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of storage. The current iterations of the standard iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air each offer only 64GB or 256GB of storage.
Discounts aside, there's a vast range in starting price for the current iPad lineup. At the low end, the ninth-generation iPad starts at $329; at the high end, the 12.9-inch, 6th-generation iPad Pro starts at $1,099, and prices vary widely for the models in between, and as you add on cellular capability.
