Amazon shared some data with us, and this is the best-selling Windows laptop of the current Prime Day sale. The best-selling laptop in general is this Macbook Air, but that's over a grand.

Instead, how about an Acer Aspire for just $189? The main drawback is 4GB of RAM, which means you can't do too many tasks simultaneously, and if you have too many Chrome tabs running, it will slow to a crawl (if you're a tab hoarder, try Microsoft Edge, it's less memory-hungry and a lot better than it used to be).

In all honesty, the Kindle Scribe wasn't quite ready when it was originally released nearly a year ago. But since then, it's had a series of free software updates that have made it much easier to recommend. It's actually pretty damn good now.
