How to File A Claim With ManyPets
Like other pet insurance plans, ManyPets reimburses you after paying your vet bills. This means you'll pay the total cost of your pet's care upfront. However, once you file a claim with ManyPets, it will reimburse you after accounting for your deductible and coinsurance amount.
ManyPets' website confirmed its methods by adding a reimbursement example to one of our quotes. While other carriers may do something similar, ManyPets is the first pet insurance company we've seen offer this type of example so clearly with the quote.
ManyPets says it processes most claims within 48 hours. But it can take up to 10 business days to process each reimbursement. So, the best thing customers can do to speed it up is to have all relevant documentation ready to submit with the claim. All claims are filed through the company's online portal.
ManyPets also asks policyholders to submit pets' medical records from the last 18 months when filing the first claim. This is its way of establishing what may or may not be a preexisting condition.
ManyPets Pet Insurance Plans
ManyPets promises pet insurance plans with no hidden fees, networks, or restrictions and hassle-free claims. When we ran a quote, ManyPets gave us one accident and illness plan. It listed unlimited reimbursement for all eligible claims, the option to use any registered vet, and a standard list of qualified services.
ManyPets does not have lower coverage limits, which isn't necessarily a problem. The company may understand how quickly costs can rise in a pet emergency. Unfortunately, while $5,000 or $10,000 may seem like a lot, a pet's medical crisis can quickly surpass those limits if hospitalizations, surgeries, etc. are required.
This said, ManyPets offers limited options to eligible pets. In addition, the options may vary between states. We only quoted in some covered states. But we received reimbursement options of 70% or 80% and an annual deductible of $500 or $750. The company did offer a 90% reimbursement tier, but it has verified the 90% tier is no longer available through ManyPets.
ManyPets has no breed or age restrictions for covered pets. Its plans include the following coverages right off the bat:
- Accidents and illnesses, such as cancer, diabetes, genetic issues, and more
- Exams and tests, including diagnostic tests, X-rays, and urinalysis
- Medications prescribed by a veterinarian
- Treatments and surgeries ordered by a veterinarian
- Hospitalizations
- Vet visits
During the signup process, you can verify the details. Some conditions may be subject to a 15-day waiting period before coverage beings.
Additional Coverage Options from ManyPets
Specifically, wellness coverage from ManyPets comes with the following:
- Exam and vaccination coverage worth up to $150 per year
- $150 per year toward testing and parasite prevention
- Dental cleaning protection worth up to $150 per year
- $150 per year in coverage for vitamins and supplements
Wellness plans all have a separate 24-hour waiting period before coverage applies. Also, ManyPets wellness coverage does not cover prescriptions or treatments for accidents and illnesses, grooming, microchipping, spaying or neutering, blood tests, elective or cosmetic procedures, prescription diets, or pet training.
FAQs
How much is pet insurance from ManyPets?
ManyPets says dog insurance starts at around $20 per month, and cat insurance starts at about $12 monthly. The quotes we got increased with age and higher reimbursement levels or lower deductibles, though the breed is a notable factor in pricing.
What is the deductible for ManyPets?
ManyPets lets its customers select from deductibles of $500 or $750 based on the quotes we were offered. However, some states may have different options.
Does ManyPets cover preexisting conditions?
ManyPets covers many preexisting conditions your pet might have as long as they have been symptom and treatment-free for at least 18 months. However, exceptions apply to cruciate ligament (CL, CCL, ACL) injuries and hip dysplasia (if your pet is six years or older when diagnosed). Most competitors willing to cover "curable" conditions have waiting periods of six to twelve months.
Does ManyPets have a waiting period?
Pet insurance from ManyPets has a waiting period of 15 days for accidents and injuries.
Compare ManyPets
See how ManyPets compares to three alternative options for pet insurance coverage: Figo, Spot, and MetLife.
ManyPets vs. Figo Pet Insurance
Figo offers annual coverage options of $5,000, $10,000, or unlimited coverage. Costs vary based on coverage limits, reimbursement rates (70% to 100%), and deductibles ($100, $250, $500, and $750 are available). When we selected a 100% reimbursement rate, our only options were $5,000 or $10,000 limits with Figo.
Pricing is similar between the two companies when we quoted similar terms. However, Figo's more diverse range of options and its shorter waiting period for curable preexisting conditions gave it a greater appeal.
ManyPets vs. Spot Pet Insurance
As mentioned before, veterinary bills can quickly get out of hand, and ManyPets' simple unlimited plan eliminates lower limits that could be disastrous in a pet emergency. On the other hand, Spot's lower coverage limits will reduce monthly premiums but may fall short when pet parents need it most. This said rates for the two companies' unlimited plans were similar.
Spot's deductible options range from $100 to $1,000, and reimbursement options range from 70 to 90%. ManyPets only offers $500 or $750 deductibles and 70% or 80% reimbursement. According to our sources, its 90% reimbursement rate is no longer available.
Spot offers a unique money-back guarantee lasting 30 days with every pet plan. So if you change your mind early on, you can get your money back. Outside of Spot's lower deductible options and slightly higher reimbursement rates, we appreciate ManyPets' simple approach, making choices easier for pet parents.
ManyPets vs. MetLife Pet Insurance
However, deductibles can be tailored to your needs, and up to 100% reimbursement options are available for smaller annual limits. MetLife also offers an optional preventative care plan to pay for routine checkups, wellness exams, vaccinations, and heartworm prevention medications.
MetLife's pet insurance plan is designed to be bundled with other MetLife insurance products instead of being a standalone product designed with the well-being of pets in mind. Unfortunately, next to companies like ManyPets, it comes up woefully short. ManyPets' prices match industry averages, offering affordable rates for most families. Its unlimited coverage with up to 80% reimbursement and $500 or $750 deductibles leave MetLife in the dust.
