Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos is "down bad" for fiancé Lauren Sanchez.

The reaction to Vogue's profile of Lauren Sánchez, who is a legitimately very interesting person (she's a former TV journalist turned helicopter pilot, TRY AND TELL ME that's not intriguing!), has been overshadowed by a cheesecake photo of her with with her fiancé, Jeff Bezos.

While most of the Annie Leibovitz photos of Sánchez alone look glamorous, the one that includes Bezos looks… uh... sort of uncanny. The best way I can describe the internet's reaction is that whoever thought it looked like an airbrushed painting on the side of a van isn't off.

But Luke Winkie for Slate spotted something different. There is something relatable about the fact that Bezos, one of the most rich and powerful men on the planet, seems so obviously in love with his fiancé.

Perhaps Bezos is just another guy who is a "down bad" for a girl. Winkie writes:

It's almost a relief to know that someone as rich as Jeff Bezos is still bound by the frailties of the human condition. This is a man who can purchase anything he wants — yachts, spaceships, a futuristic workout regimen, whatever. And yet, he remains capable of being reduced to ash by the right paramour. He experiences unhappiness and joy in the same way the rest of us do. He is capable of letting the spirit take over when someone who he desperately wants to have sex with agrees to have sex with him. I think we'd all like to experience a version of life where money was not an object, but at the very least, Bezos and I are familiar with an identical strain of romantic anxiety.

Kind of like, "I'm just the founder of a massive corporation worth billions of dollars, standing in front of a helicopter pilot, asking her to love me."

Hey, who doesn't love true love?
