  • A street in Detroit, Michigan has newly installed induction charging coils.
  • The coils charge some electric vehicles when they're parked, driving, or idling.
  • This is a pilot program for the technology, which could be installed in other countries as well.

Crews have installed what's billed as the nation's first wireless-charging public roadway for electric vehicles beneath a street just west of downtown Detroit.
