Here's a quick refresher on the Bilt Mastercard® - Product Name Only, and what you should know about the value of Bilt points and transfer partners.

Earning and Redeeming Bilt Rewards

The Bilt Mastercard® - Product Name Only is a relative newcomer on the consumer credit card scene that has made waves for good reason. This no-annual-fee card earns rewards on monthly rent payments without charging any processing fees, and offers 3x points on dining or 2x points on travel. Foodies in certain major cities can also earn up to 8x points when dining at select Bilt partner restaurants. You'll also earn 5x Lyft points if you link up your membership account to Bilt Rewards.

Bilt cardholders also get to earn extra points on the first of each month for Bilt Rent Day, by playing trivia games or spending on the credit card. All purchases except for rent earn double points on "Rent Day."

Insider values Bilt points at an average rate of 1.65 cents apiece, although redemption value can range from a low end of 1.2 cents apiece up to 2.1 cents apiece.

Is transferring Bilt points to Marriott a good idea?

Transferring points to Marriott can be an effective way to top up your hotel chain points balance. But a direct transfer isn't necessarily the best value, since Marriott points are worth just 0.7 cents apiece on average, according to Insider's valuations, while Bilt points can be worth significantly more. (It's worth noting that transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards or Amex Membership Rewards points to Marriott is of equally poor redemption value.)

Instead, you'll typically find the best value transferring Bilt points to flight partners. For example, Rent Day November 2023 offered members an opportunity to transfer points to Emirates at up to a 150% bonus, where 1,000 Bilt points could have been worth 2,500 Emirates Skywards miles. Since a single Emirates first-class flight can cost well over $5,000, booking a luxury flight on miles could be a far more effective use of your points.

Alternatively, you can book travel directly through Bilt's travel portal and use your points to pay for part or all of the cost.
