- Turquoise, violet, and pink are expected to be bedroom trends in 2024.
- Coral and turquoise shades add pops of color when set against more neutral bedding.
- White paint with a golden glow can brighten and warm up the ceiling.
Business Insider asked architectural color consultant Amy Woolf which colors will trend in bedrooms in 2024.
Here are eight hues you will see more of this year.
According to Woolf, blue will be a trending color throughout 2024.
"Blue has always been a classic bedroom color, from a pale, airy blue to a deep, cozy navy," she said.
Lighter shades of the hue can be tricky to incorporate, so the expert recommends looking for a blue mixed with gray.
Woolf also likes to pair blue with white for optimal contrast.
You may want to try violet if you favor a calm bedroom with a neutral vibe.
Woolf recommends looking for a toned-down, almost neutral violet and using it on accents like the walls, trim, or ceiling.
The method, known as color drenching, reduces the contrast between the room's colors and the stark white usually found on the walls or trim.
Woolf told BI that "drenching your bedroom in a pale violet feels like sleeping in a cloud."
Soft green, one of Woolf's favorite colors, is a wonderful choice for adding warmth to your bedroom sanctuary.
"A green that leans ever so slightly toward yellow is my preference — not too light and definitely not dark," she said.
Woolf recommends avoiding mint greens and shades with lots of blue in them.
Pink has been on trend due to the resurgence of the millennial shade of the late 2010s and the current enthusiasm for all things Barbie.
"Pale pink for a bedroom is a romantic choice, but I like to ground it with a little earthiness right now — not the full-on terracotta that we've been seeing lately, but a little more tone and definitely warm," Woolf said.
She recommends starting with a hint of pink, as "a little goes a long way."
Woolf recommends avoiding stark white for the bedroom ceiling because "it tends to go gray and cool."
She recommends white ceiling paint with a slight golden glow to enhance the bedroom's ambiance.
"It goes with everything and brings warmth to an otherwise forgotten plane," the expert told BI.
Woolf has seen a recent trend toward natural stone colors that act as a backdrop for brighter hues.
For those leaning into the maximalist trend or gravitating toward colorful, patterned bedding, choosing a stone hue that works well with other colors is important.
Woolf suggests looking for a true stone color that's "not quite gray, not quite beige to keep your options open."
How dark of a shade you choose depends on your natural light and personal taste.
Opt for a soft coral if you use neutral bedding and want a more vibrant wall color.
According to Woolf, this shade provides "a dramatic pop that's softer than red yet bolder than pink."
Coral can work with almost any wood tone, from espresso to driftwood.
According to Woolf, turquoise is a "universally flattering color" that strikes "the perfect balance between soothing and energizing."
A bright color can look great on a tiny paint chip but overwhelm a room when it's covering the walls.
Because of this, the expert suggests choosing a more muted turquoise for walls.
