Jupiter's moon, Io — NASA's Juno spacecraft captured this stunning image of Io during one of its recent close encounters.

For the first time in over 20 years, NASA had a close encounter with Io, Jupiter's moon.
Io is home to roughly 400 active volcanoes, some much larger than any here on Earth.
During its close fly-by, the Juno spacecraft saw stunning sights of volcanoes erupting on Io.

NASA's Juno spacecraft snapped detailed images of the most volcanically active world in our solar system on Saturday. During this close fly-by, the spacecraft spotted plumes of volcanic activity erupting from Io's surface in real-time.
