- Blackpink's Lisa is set to make her acting debut in "The White Lotus" Season 3.
- Lisa's role is not yet specified, and she will be credited as Lalisa Manobal.
- Her casting will make her the second Blackpink member to star in an HBO show.
Blackpink's Lisa will make her acting debut and join the cast of "The White Lotus" for the show's third season, HBO confirmed Monday.
The South Korean music idol's role has not been specified, but she will be credited on the show by her given name, Lalisa Manobal.
There are plenty of potential roles that the actor could take on: According to a November report from Deadline, the new season will feature "a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit and a yogi" and more.
Manobal's management company — which the star launched last week — also confirmed the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday. Variety first reported the news.
The series will begin filming this month in Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, Thailand. Manobal's casting was announced alongside two other actors: Scott Glenn and Julian Kostov.
Manobal will join her group member Jennie as one of two Blackpink idols to star in an HBO show. Jennie acted in "The Idol" alongside Lily-Rose Depp, playing a backup dancer and singer named Jennie Ruby Jane.
The show's casting process has already made news this year, both for its star-studded line-up and controversy surrounding one of its hires.
Miloš Biković, a Serbian actor, was recently removed from the cast of the show after the Ukrainian government accused him of supporting "genocide" by Russia during President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.
Biković criticized the decision to have him removed from the show.
"I grew up in a war-torn country," Biković wrote in a previous statement to Business Insider. "At the age of 11 I endured days and nights in shelters while my homeland and my hometown were bombed. And could never wish such devastation on anyone."
The new cast of "The White Lotus" season three includes Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Nicholas Duvernay, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and dozens more.
Representatives for Manobal did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
