- "10 Things I Hate About You" was originally released in March 1999.
- The film starred Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Larisa Oleynik, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
- It's a modern retelling of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew."
Is it just too good to be true? No, "10 Things I Hate About You" really is streaming on Netflix.
The film, based on the Shakespeare comedy "The Taming of the Shrew," remains one of the most enduring and beloved examples of both '90s teen rom-coms and modern-day Shakespeare adaptations.
The cast was also filled with soon-to-be movie stars such as Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gabrielle Union, and, of course, future Oscar winner Heath Ledger.
It was a hit upon its release, and its impact is still felt today. A TV remake of the film aired on ABC Family for one season and starred Lindsey Shaw, Ethan Peck, Meaghan Martin, and Nicholas Braun.
Earlier this year, Pitchfork reported that a musical adaptation is in the works with a book written by Lena Dunham and Jessica Huang, and music and lyrics by Carly Rae Jepsen and Ethan Gruska.

Before "10 Things," Keegan, 46, starred on "Thunder Alley," "7th Heaven," and "Party of Five." Since then, he has had a few small roles on projects including "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Hollywood Darlings."
Keegan made headlines in April 2014 when he was interviewed by New York Magazine after founding a new religion he called Full Circle. Almost a year later, its headquarters were raided by the California's Department of Alcohol Beverage Control for selling kombucha without a permit, per Vice.
"We weren't aware that we needed any sort of special license to sell kombucha," said a Full Circle spokesperson. Full Circle shut down in 2017.
In 2024, Keegan addressed rumors that he was a "cult leader" on an episode of "Pod Meets World," a podcast hosted by "Boy Meets World" stars Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle.
"Looking back, it was insane. I was putting down tens of thousands of dollars, but we opened it up and spent three years and really did build an amazing friend group," he said.
Keegan continued, "For all intents and purposes, it was a really cool community center for a bunch of people in Venice for a few years."
"I look back at it now and I'm like, I don't know anybody else who is being called a cult leader, so it's kind of like a badge of honor," he said.
Keegan did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
Since 2017, Keegan has continued to act and even appeared on an episode of "Trinkets" alongside his "10 Things" costar Larisa Oleynik.
Keegan has one daughter, born in 2016.
