  • The new color can help Apple juice sales midway through a release cycle ahead of the iPhone 15.
  • Aside from the color, the new phone is the same as the previously released iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

If you're in the market for a new iPhone, there's a new spring-time hue available.

Apple announced a new yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus on Tuesday.

The move to debut a new model color, which was rumored earlier this week, follows Apple's past sales strategy, as Bloomberg points out. Apple has been known to introduce new colors to its product lines several months after an initial launch to reignite consumer interest and juice sales in the period between new flagship offerings.

In 2022, for example, Apple released green additions of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Plus midway through the first year the iPhone 13 lineup went on sale. The year before, Apple added a purple shade to the iPhone 12 range midway through the product cycle.

Aside from the cosmetic color change, nothing about this model of the iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Plus has changed from the iPhone 14 lineup announced last September. The new shade is the sixth to be added to the iPhone 14 range, alongside previous colors including midnight, red, starlight, blue, and lavender.

This announcement falls around six months before the next iPhone, presumably called the iPhone 15, is expected to launch in September.

The yellow iPhones will be available to pre-order starting at $799 on March 10, and will launch online and in stores on March 14.
