Remember the "deep state"? That hidden cabal of government bureaucrats who were supposedly interfering with the Trump administration's agenda? President Donald Trump spent four weird years scapegoating these mythologically nameless mandarins for his inability to deliver on core campaign promises, such as exiting the war in Afghanistan.
