4x3 disney plus deal collage with elemental, the little mermaid, and ahsoka stills side by side
For a limited time, new and returning subscribers can save on their first three months of Disney Plus Basic.

Disney Plus is easily one of the best streaming services for families. It offers a huge library of content for all ages, including animated classics, Pixar hits, "Star Wars" spin-offs, and Marvel movies. The service is a bit pricier than some competitors, but new members can take advantage of a rare deal that takes a whopping 75% off your first three months.

Now through September 20, new and returning subscribers can get their first three months of Disney Plus Basic (ad-supported) for only $2 a month. The regular price is $8 a month, so this deal saves you a total of $18 over three months.

This is an especially welcome discount since there's a Disney Plus price hike coming in October. Though the price increase will only impact ad-free members, this deal offers new subscribers a cheap way to try Disney Plus' ad-supported plan before deciding whether it's worth keeping, canceling, or upgrading to the ad-free option.

Get 3 months of Disney Plus Basic for $6

To get this rare Disney Plus deal, all you have to do is sign up for the ad-supported Basic plan on the Disney Plus website. New and returning subscribers will automatically qualify for the discount, and after your first three months, your subscription will auto-renew at the normal $8 a month price.

We see Disney Plus deals sprinkled irregularly throughout the year, and usually without much warning. When a good one like this promotion comes along, we recommend springing for it — we don't know when the next Disney Plus sale will arise, and prices are always climbing.

This deal can't be used with any of the Disney Plus Bundles featuring Hulu and ESPN Plus. Subscribers to either of the latter two services who take advantage of this sign-up discount won't be able to combine their accounts for the duration of the deal, and Disney Plus will still auto-renew at the full $8 price afterward. You'll need to unsubscribe then re-subscribe to a bundle afterward in order to get bundle pricing.

A streaming service for families and Disney fans

Disney is a household name for families all over the world, and its streaming service provides the classics many of us grew up with in addition to a vast catalog of new content and series. Subscribers can entertain little ones with new films like "The Little Mermaid" or popular animated series like "Bluey."

You don't need to be a kid to enjoy Disney Plus, though. "Star Wars" and Marvel fans will love original series like "The Mandalorian," "Ahsoka," "Loki," and "Secret Invasion," along with newer releases like "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

On the downside, Disney Plus doesn't have a huge selection of programs geared toward adults, and if you're not into Disney's franchises, you might not find a ton to watch. With that in mind, Disney lets you bundle the service with its partner platforms, Hulu and ESPN Plus, to get access to a greater variety of content at a discount.
