Bad Bunny is not happy about an AI-generated song making the rounds on TikTok.
The song, "nostalgIA," features an AI-generated version of his vocals and artificially generated versions of Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee. The musician posted on this private WhatsApp channel to express his frustration about the song.
The Spanish-language post was viewed by Insider and translated into English. It said, "If you like that shitty song that's viral on Tiktok, get out of this group right now. You don't deserve to be my friends and that's why I made the new album, to get rid of people like that."
"I don't want them on the tour either," he said in a separate message.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, released his fifth solo studio LP "Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana" last month.
Representatives for Bad Bunny did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside normal working hours.
He's not the first to speak out about the technology.
Drake also took issue with a viral AI-generated TikTok song that mimicked his voice and paired it up with The Weeknd. The song was removed from Spotify and Apple Music after the musician spoke out.
Other artists, including Ice Cube, have slammed people who use the technology to make music with someone else's vocals.
However, some musicians, including Elon Musk's ex-girlfriend Grimes, have embraced the technology and tried to find ethical ways to make AI-generated songs in an artist's style. Grimes said in April she was willing to split the royalties on any successful AI-generated song that uses her voice.
