- A CNN New Year's Eve remote with John Mayer live from a cat cafe in Japan was nearly 8 minutes long.
- For most of it — at one point for nearly 2 minutes total — anchor Anderson Cooper was in stitches.
- It's pure entertainment. Believe me. Just watch.
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper dissolved into a fit of giggles during a nearly eight-minute segment with musician John Mayer during Cooper and Andy Cohen's New Year's Eve broadcast in Times Square.
Mayer, who remained remarkably straight-faced throughout the segment, was on to promote his new SiriusXM channel, "Life With John Mayer," and to share tidings from 2024, as it was already January 1 in Japan.
He appeared live from the Cats in the Box cat bar in Tokyo, surrounded by orange and gray tabbies, to whom he cooed at and fed meat tube treats.
"This is a place you can come and enjoy a drink or two and talk to cats. It's a cat bar," Mayer said.
"I don't know how much more clear I can be about the objective of this place," he continued as Cooper laughed uncontrollably and Cohen tried to push the segment forward.
Booze was back on the menu for Cohen and Cooper during their New Year's Eve broadcast on CNN, and its effects (including petty digs at billionaires) were immediately (and delightfully) present.
The entire segment is pure entertainment. Enjoy!
