Maui County filed a lawsuit against Hawaiian Electric Company this week over the fires that destroyed thousands of structures and killed over 100 people this month.

On Tuesday, Hawaiian officials urged family members to provide DNA samples that might help identify relatives missing from the wildfires. There are still more than 1,000 people missing after the United States deadliest wildfire in more than a century swept through Maui.

After days of devastating fires that have displaced thousands of people, and have burned down important historical sites throughout Maui, the official death count has risen to 106 according to officials.

The devastating wildfires that have destroyed homes have now officially killed almost 100 people. The official reported death toll last Wednesday was 6 people. By Friday the count had risen to 55 dead.
