- Kim Kardashian told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that her kids want to set her up on dates.
- She has four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West, aged between 5 and 11.
- Family therapist suggests that parents include children when making decisions in the relationship.
Kim Kardashian is single — and not ready to mingle. Her kids, however, are excited for her to start dating again.
"It's so funny because my kids try to set me up. Like, they're ready now, and I'm not. But they are, like, 'All right, Mom, let's go,'" she said on the Wednesday episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Kardashian has four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West, now known as Ye: North West, 11, Saint West, 8, Chicago West, 6, and Psalm West, 5.
And they've made lists of men they want her to date.
"Saint wants me to be with, like, any basketball player or soccer player. And I'm like, 'If you only knew,'" said Kardashian, who has been romantically linked to athletes, including ex-NBA player Kris Humphries, whom she infamously married for 72 days in 2011.
"Some of my kids want me to be with streamers. Like, they have lists and try to sneakily set me up," she added.
But Kardashian said that she's not looking to date at the moment.
In February 2021, she filed for divorce from Ye, whom she had been married to for 12 years. The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star then had a nine-month relationship with comedian Pete Davidson, which ended in August 2022.
Her most recent relationship was with NFL star Odell Beckham Jr., which lasted from September 2023 to April this year, E! News reported.
In the third season's premiere of "The Kardashians," Kardashian got vulnerable about dating in her 40s.
"I go back and forth in my feelings sometimes like, 'Uh, who's ever gonna wanna date me? I have four kids, I'm in my 40s, you know? Like, oh my god, who's gonna wanna deal with the drams?'" Kardashian said.
"But my person will be like, 'F**k all of that, it's gonna be hard, but we're together, and we're gonna do this.' So I'm just waiting for that person," she said.
Dating as a single parent can be daunting
Experts previously told BI that the key to navigating new relationships as a single parent is to have open conversations with their children.
Ron L. Deal, a licensed marriage and family therapist, said that children often respond with confusion when it comes to their parent's new partner. To overcome this, he said that single parents should include children when making decisions in the relationship. For example, they can ask questions like, "What if I went out with him exclusively?" and "What if you met his children?"
Laura Markha, a clinical psychologist and author of "Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: How to Stop Yelling and Start Connecting," pointed out that single parents should take things slowly to let their children become familiar with their new partner.
Markha said that single parents can consider family therapy if their child is struggling to adapt to their new relationship.
"It's just a hard thing for a child of any age to have their parent move on into a new relationship," she said.
A representative for Kardashian did not immediately respond to a request from Business Insider for comment sent outside regular business hours.
