Warner Bros. may be playing fast and loose with DC movies in live-action, but over in animation, the studio makes sure to release a handful of movies every year.

Adult Swim’s The Venture Bros. had an eventful life up to and including its sudden cancellation in 2018. For as long as gaps between seasons could get, it was just one of those shows that came to define the late night Cartoon Network block and also released at just the right moment.

There was a time, a little less than a decade ago, when owning multiple streaming services did not cost users a full, or even 1.5 times that of a cable package. It was a beautiful time of cheap entertainment that would not—or perhaps could not—last.
